About conference

Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies (CEAS) from Belgrade is proud to announce the international conference 8 th Belgrade NATO Week – THIS IS US (fall edition), which will be held on November 15th/17th , 2020, in a hybrid form.

This CEAS flagship conference is a part of the CEAS regular annual project Belgrade NATO Week, which has enjoyed the support of the NATO Public Diplomacy Division since its inception eight years ago.

The key topics of this year's conference are:

  • Analysis of progress achieved in Serbia’s cooperation with NATO;
  • Impact of the outcome of the US election results on Serbia-US relations, and Western Balkans ongoing regional integration processes and settlement of the outstanding disputes;
  • Serbia’s new potential role in contributing to Southeast Europe and Trans-Atlantic community stability and prosperity, in the view of recent agreements between Belgrade and the US and Pristina and the US, and other regional initiatives;
  • The importance of strengthening Serbia-US defense cooperation, with special focus on Polish and Israeli experiences / Current key obstacles and windows of opportunity;
  • Serbian military neutrality, as defined by recently adopted new strategic documents – from the perspective of the EU strategic autonomy debate.

During the conference the results of the latest public opinion poll “THIS IS US”, designed by CEAS for the needs of this years’ Belgrade NATO Week, will be presented for the first time, covering the topics of the significance of the September 4 th Belgrade-US and Pristina-US agreements, as well as Serbia-US relationship, NATO, EU and Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. The results will be presented in a form of comparison with similar previous polls conducted every 6 months.

Over the years CEAS brought many high level speakers to our Belgrade NATO Week event.

This year we expect participation from the high level representatives of the new Serbian government in charge of foreign affairs, security and defense; high level NATO, EU and US government representatives; leading experts in regional integration and transatlantic affairs.

Panels will be moderated by prestigious journalist and experts in transatlantic foreign, security and defense policies.
 
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s event will be in a hybrid form. The event will be broadcasted live via YouTube platform in both Serbian and English. The entire event will be broadcasted by the Serbian news agency Tanjug.

The working languages of the conference will be Serbian and English. Simultaneous translation is provided.
