Gordana Čomić

Minister, Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue of the Republic of Serbia

Minister Gordana Čomić was a member of the Novi Sad City Board of the Democratic Party (DP) in 1992, and a spokesperson for the City Board and the Provincial Board of the DP for Vojvodina (1996). She was the President of the election headquarters of the Novi Sad DP and President of the Provincial Board for DP Vojvodina from 1998 to 2001, and she served as Vice President of the Democratic Party from 2001 to 2004.

Ms.Čomić is an activist of the women's movement and the Women's Political Network since 2000. She is the president of the Democratic Party Women's Forum and a member of the DP Presidency since 2006. In the 2008 parliamentary convocation, she served as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and a member of the parliamentary friendship groups with Israel (President), Indonesia, Portugal, the US, and the Sovereign Order of Malta. She also served as an MP and National Assembly Deputy Speaker (2012-2014 and 2014-2016 convocations). In the extraordinary parliamentary elections held on April 24, 2016, she was re-elected as an MP.

She holds a degree in physics and has worked as an assistant at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad (1984-1999).
